Luz Casal – Piensa En Mi

Spanish pop singer Luz Casal sings “Piensa En Mi”, a 1935 song written by Mexican singer, actor and songwriter Agustín Lara and his sister Maria Teresa Lara.

Luz Casal sings the song on the soundtrack of High Heels, the 1991 melodrama film written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar. Here is a more recent version below:

And another beautiful version, from Pink Martini, from the 2009 album “Splendor in the Grass” (vocal by Chavela Vargas, the Costa Rican-born Mexican singer – 17 April 1919 – 5 August 2012). I strongly recommend this! She was 90-year-old at the time of the recording.

Piensa en mi

Si tienes un hondo penar, piensa en mi
Si tienes ganas de llorar, piensa en mi
Ya ves que venero tu imagen divina
Tu parvula boca, que siendo tan nina
Me enseno a pecar

Piensa en mi cuando sufras
Cuando llores, tambien piensa en mi
Cuando quieras quitarme la vida
No la quiero, para nada
Para nada me sirve sin ti

Piensa en mi cuando sufras
Cuando llores, tambien piensa en mi
Cuando quieras quitarme la vida
No la quiero, para nada
Para nada me sirve sin ti

Τhink of me

If you have a deep anguish, think of me
If you want to cry, think of me
You see I worship your divine image
your innocent lips that are so childlike
showed me how to sin

Think of me when you suffer
When you cry, also think of me
When you want to, take my life
I don’t want it, for anything
I’m good for nothing without you

Think of me when you suffer
When you cry, also think of me
When you want to, take my life
I don’t want it, for anything
I’m good for nothing without you
